Our work on the cover of AJRCCM

We are proud to share that research from our group has been featured on the cover of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (Vol. 211, No. 11, November 2025) — one of the most prestigious journals in pulmonary and critical care medicine, with an impact factor of 19.4.

The cover image is from our work developing a deep learning segmentation model to measure upper airway volume in children. The figure illustrates expert-annotated airway boundaries alongside model-detected boundaries, with the overlap shown in yellow — a visual representation of how closely our algorithm mirrors a trained clinician's judgment.

Accurate, automated measurement of upper airway anatomy is central to understanding why some children develop sleep-disordered breathing and others do not.

Being featured on the cover of AJRCCM reflects the quality and clinical relevance of this work.
